We will perform songs from our wide ranging Gospel, Motown and popular repertoire (or more Festive numbers, depending on the time of year) – this can be tailored to suit you. There can be anywhere between 12 to 35 of us  – again depending on your requirements (and our availability – generally we have more choir members available for weekend performances). - [Weddings](https://northeastgospelchoir.co.uk/weddings/): Let the choir sing at your wedding! We regularly sing at weddings around the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and County Durham areas. There will generally be 20 to 30 choir members (or fewer if required) and we are happy to sing for you at various points during your wedding service, for example- to entertain your guests before the bride arrives, as the bride walks up the aisle, during the signing of the register, as the happy couple walk down the aisle and as the guests leave, as well as joining in any hymns. - [Sharon Durant](https://northeastgospelchoir.co.uk/sharon-durant/): Sharon has been leading the choir since it started in 2003. When not with the choir, Sharon is Partnership Manager at Sing Up- a not-for-profit organisation that encourages and supports singing in schools. She is also a freelance singer, composer and arranger as well as directing several community choirs. Previous projects include: Youth Chorus Leader for commissioned contemporary opera: Skellig, managing the Sage Gateshead’s Community Music Apprenticeship, leading the Vocal Curriculum at Sage Gateshead’s weekend school, Vocal Animateur for the Paul Hamlyn ‘Unlocking the Future’ project across secondary education in Tees Valley inspiring KS3 teachers to enliven singing in the […]

- [Join Us](https://northeastgospelchoir.co.uk/join-us/): We are a community choir (so no auditions) and are always happy to welcome new members, however for ease of teaching, we now only accept new members during the first 3 rehearsals of each term, otherwise we would ask that you wait until the following term to join us. Further information such as rehearsal dates, times, cost and location can all be found on our rehearsals page. If you would like further information about joining the choir, please get in touch.

- [About Us](https://northeastgospelchoir.co.uk/about/): We are the North East Gospel Choir – a non-auditioned, adult, mixed community choir. The choir was originally set up in 2003 as part of the 20 000 Voices project and has been going strong ever since. There are over 60 current choir members (and we are always happy to welcome more!). We sing a variety of styles of songs- obviously traditional Gospel, spirituals and worship songs, as well as more modern numbers (often made popular in films such as “Sister Act”), Soul and Motown.
